China, ASEAN institutes sign MoU on promoting clean energy

China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Asian Institute of Technology to further promote clean energy development in the ASEAN region, the institute said on Thursday.
The two sides will jointly conduct exchange and research on ASEAN clean energy, while strengthening development and innovation of new technologies to address the weak links in new energy and industrial development in the region, it said.
The two sides will also engage in regular exchanges and seminars and release research results.
ASEAN is one of the most dynamic regions in global economic development with strong energy demand. The development of clean energy has become the main trend of energy power in the context of addressing climate change.
China and ASEAN have a solid foundation for cooperation on clean energy, and deepening cooperation is of great significance to regional economic recovery and ecological protection, said the China institute.
