Jakob Linulf, Consul General of Denmark in Shanghai, said that the number of Danish companies participating in the fourth China International Import Expo was a record high and he hopes to continue expanding the nation's presence at future editions of the expo.

According to Linulf, more than 40 Danish companies attended the expo. Around 30 of them were food and agriculture companies exhibiting in the 500-square-meter Danish Pavilion.

"Even though it's still early in the morning, you can feel that there is lots of energy, lots of activities. The same goes for bilateral trade between China and Denmark," said Linulf, adding that China is now Denmark's fifth largest trading partner.

Besides food companies, other independent Danish exhibitors at this year's CIIE included toy company Lego, pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk and wind turbine company Vestas.

"Denmark has been very loyal to the expo. We have national pavilions throughout all editions of the CIIE and we're getting bigger and bigger," said Linulf.

"We told Danish companies that they should be here to show their commitment to the Chinese market. This is a good place to start if they've never been to China."

Linulf said he is looking forward to seeing more Danish exhibitors from the shipping and green energy sector be a part of the next edition of the CIIE.

With China and Denmark sharing a common goal in peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, there is huge potential for collaboration in the renewable energy sector, he added.

"Denmark will be here next year. We hope to have an even stronger presence. We may also set up a green pavilion to make an even stronger Danish presence in sustainability and clean energy," he said.
