This CIIE also saw British consumer goods company Unilever announce a sustainability collaboration with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group.

According to the company, the initiative will elevate the sustainability partnership between the two parties to the next level, and will involve building "greener" supply chains, expanding sustainability-focused digital marketing and creating "green shelf space" to highlight environment-friendly products.

The two companies will also work together to deploy more than 1,000 artificial intelligence recycling machines in Chinese university campuses.

"In the context of global carbon neutrality, it is especially important that we better promote green products. The peak carbon emissions action plan issued by China's State Council also has a clear goal," said Rohit Jawa, president of Unilever North Asia.

"With the mission of 'make sustainable living commonplace', we are full of confidence and believe that there will be more opportunities for sustainable growth in the future," he added.
