The two-day 2021 Head of Shanghai River Regatta, China's first eight rowing competition developed in Shanghai and held on the Suzhou Creek, came to an end on Sunday.

According to the organizing committee, 46 teams comprising of professional and amateur rowers from across the country competed in two races: a 4.2-kilometer chase from Changshou road bridge to Waibaidu bridge with one lane and a 500-meter rowing sprint with two lanes.

The event included men's and women's eights as well as mixed teams.

All teams passed through 13 bridges, four of which are three-arch bridges. Considering that contestants' performance will be influenced by the width of the arches, rules stipulated no overtaking would be allowed around the bridges during the races.
