Hubei rows to gold in both men's and women's category

Since it's still the flood season, the committee diverted water from the main channel to relieve pressure on the creek twice on Oct 21 before the game.
Teams from Hubei province won championships in both men's and women's professional rowing category, while in the university category, the team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University took the top spot, followed by the teams from Xi'an Jiao Tong University in the second place and Huanghe Science and Technology University the third.
Twelve rowing medalists and coaches in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics participated in the competition as well.
"We exchanged insights and learned from other contestants of the same age. I enjoyed the view on both sides of the Suzhou Creek in the city during the contest," said Qi Yige from Peking University team.
"Team members underwent extra training to improve overall fitness and strengths as well as rowing techniques in order to show our best performance in the game," Qi said. "I hope to attend the event every year. It's a delightful experience."
Xiang Ding from Sun Yat-sen University team said rowing around the bends of the creek was one of the most challenging yet fresh experience so far.
"Previous competitions were held on straight lanes, so many teams were trapped when crossing the river bends during a trial run before the regatta," Xiang said.
