Manman Unagi restaurant opened in Beijing's Chaoyang Joy City on Monday, bringing traditional Japanese unadon and Kansai grilled unagi cuisine to the diners in the capital.

Originating in Singapore, the restaurant chain opened its first China branch in Chengdu, Sichuan province, in 2018.

In 2020, Manman hosted a unagi festival in Chengdu to let the public know more about unagi cuisine.

All the unagi are grilled alive on 800-degree charcoal and the chefs make sure each unagi is cooked under the right timing.

The unagi is eaten in three ways - first directly to taste its original flavor, then with some seasoning to feel the umami of the unagi, and finally eaten with soup.
