An annual event to raise public recognition for stunt performers, the sixth Jackie Chan International Action Film Week, will be held in Datong, North China's Shanxi Province, from Aug 6 to 8.

With the combination of online and in-person events due to COVID-19 prevention concerns, its highlights include an awards selection of 10 classic action films, a forum about technology and stunts and a special screening of action films.

Chan, the Hong Kong kung fu giant who has starred in or produced more than 200 movies, attended a press conference in Beijing's China National Film Museum on Thursday.

Several sports stars also showed up at the event, including legendary speed skater Ye Qiaobo, former winter Olympics champion Zhang Hong and 2006 Olympic silver medalist Zhang Dan.

Recalling his death-defying slide down the exterior of the 25-storey Willemswerf building in Rotterdam for the movie Who Am I? more than 20 years ago, Chan said it marks one of his most dangerous moments.

Despite suffering a lot of injuries for such jaw-dropping stunts, Chan said he believed these efforts have paid off, which not only create classic action scenes but also exemplify his love and passion for action movies.
