Maternity and infant products are one of the most popular categories in the existing cross-border e-commerce sector, and its foreign trade outlook is expected to be rosy in the next half of 2021, industry experts said.

According to Made-in-China.com, in the first half of this year, inquiries for pregnant and infant products increased by 75 percent compared with the same period in 2020. The most frequently asked about items are baby products, educational and entertainment toys, and stuffed toys. Overseas buyers mainly come from Europe, North America, the United States and other places, while Iran, Iraq and Ireland have the highest increase in visits to pregnancy and infant products.

"Maternity and infant products are one of the most popular types in the current cross-border e-commerce market, and the foreign trade of the global B-end (business) maternity and infant market continues to improve," said Qi Mengting, operation manager of light industry at Made-in-China.com. "Chinese suppliers need to focus on product competitiveness and pay attention to the rising needs of the new generation of global parents. They should promote products through various channels, including B2B platforms, search engines, new media marketing and others."

The 21st CBME Pregnant and Infant Exhibition recently held in Shanghai mainly focused on the omni-channel business connection, with an aim to help the development of the industry. High-quality suppliers from China participated in the exhibition and increased product exposure in online and offline ways.
