Orders for home cleaning surge in China

Orders for home cleaning service surged more than 600 percent year-on-year since June, data from online marketplace 58.com showed, the National Business Daily reported on Thursday.
Businesses like air conditioner cleaning, fridge cleaning and washing machine cleaning increased by three to four times, many of which rose thanks to younger generation's preference to pay for convenience, said Li Zijian, vice-president of 58.com.
Chen Deyuan, an employer at a housekeeping firm said, since May 5, the firm has been swamped with orders. Air conditioner cleaning orders alone can reach 100 per day, even 1,000 a day on weekends. Each worker handles seven to eight orders daily.
Chen said he earns 8,000 to 10,000 yuan ($1,237 to $1,547) monthly now. Some can earn more than 10,000 yuan. The daily salary of some workers can be as high as 700 to 800 yuan. On weekends, the compensation can rise to 1,000 yuan.
Chen Lei, a customer, felt spending 300 to 500 yuan on purchasing cleaning service for all of his home appliances is quite convenient.
He said he worries about the breeding of bacteria in home appliances including air conditioner and washing machines, but as a salesman he cannot spare time to do housework.
