FC Barcelona confirm cracked jawbone for midfielder Busquets
MADRID -- FC Barcelona suffered an injury setback on Saturday with the news that Spain international midfielder, Sergio Busquets suffered a fissure in his upper jaw during Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Atletico Madrid.
Busquets had to leave the field after half an hour of the key game in the race for the La Liga title after a collision with Atletico defender Stefan Savic and although he attempted to return to action, he had to leave the game minutes later feeling dizzy.
The veteran was taken to hospital where it was revealed he suffered a "has a facial contusion and a fissure in his maxilla (upper jaw).
Although the club website says Busquets is "progressing favorably" and that "his recovery will dictate his availability," given that the maxilla is one of the most important bones in the face, It is doubtful he will be available for Tuesday's visit to Valencia to play Levante, or the home game against Celta the following Sunday.
The draw between Barca and Atletico means Barcelona remain two points behind their rivals with just three games to play this season, although Real Madrid could leapfrog both sides if they win their home game against Sevilla on Sunday night and would lift the title if they win their three matches afterwards.
