A Chinese consumer organization called on Tesla to respect consumers' rights on Wednesday, as a cascade of malfunction incidents has provoked animated discussion in China.

Respecting consumers' rights is the primary precondition for companies do business, the China Consumers Association said.

The CCA mentioned companies should pay attention to consumers' complaints, negotiate with sincerity and offer reasonable explanations and effective solutions.

Carmakers' technological advantages should not stand in the way of solving problems, the CCA said.

The companies should ensure product quality in accordance with the law, and take effective measures to protect consumers' safety and legitimate interests, the organization urged.

Moreover, the association said consumers should assert their rights according to law, protect their rights rationally and avoid excessive behavior.
