Uganda to host 2021 All Africa Badminton Championships

KAMPALA - The Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) has selected Uganda to host the 2021 All Africa Badminton Championships scheduled for later this year, a top official said here on Tuesday.
Ivan Karimunda, general secretary of Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) told Xinhua in an interview that the tournament will be held from Sept 23-30 in the capital Kampala.
"This is a good development for us because we have never hosted the All Africa Championships. We shall make sure we organize a successful championships and also prepare our players well enough to put up a good show," said Karimunda.
The tournament will carry Badminton World Federation ranking points, according to the official.
Initially it was scheduled to take place in South Africa, but was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the BCA, the UBA, with support from national authorities, will put in place a safe 'bubble' for the efficient and sanitary delivery of the championships.
Egypt was the winner of the All Africa Championships as the host in 2020.
