Chinese shares close higher Friday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.52 percent, at 3,484.39 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.02 percent higher at 14,122.61 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 716.7 billion yuan ($109.17 billion), up from 657.7 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to liquor-making and real estate sectors saw a strong performance, while shares of electricity and environmental protection led the decline.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.31 percent to close at 2,852.23 points Friday.
