Kenneth Lieberthal: Future holds opportunities for improved China-US relations | Updated: 2021-03-29 17:20

Kenneth Lieberthal, senior fellow emeritus in Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution and professor emeritus at the University of Michigan, believes there are opportunities to improve Sino-US relations in the future and there are many areas where the US and China can cooperate.

"I think we will see a much more cooperative approach in areas such as joint research, having Chinese students in the US, encouraging US students to work with their counterparts in China and do research set up in China" Lieberthal said during an online conference on the Sino-US Sustained Dialogue held by the Institute of American Studies Chinese Academy of Social Science and the Kettering Foundation on Jan 27.
