The China-EU investment agreement is mutually beneficial, and both sides' negotiating departments are in the process of necessary legal review, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.
Gao Feng, a spokesman for the ministry, told a news conference in Beijing the deal does not only serve the interests of the two sides, but also benefits the world.
His comments came after the European parliament reportedly decided to cancel a meeting to discuss the deal.
China and the EU had jointly announced the completion of China-EU investment agreement negotiations at the end of last year.
