Young impresses as Beijing crush Nanjing in CBA
ZHUJI, China -- Joseph Young scored a game-high 31 points to help the Beijing Royal Fighters trounce the Nanjing Monkey Kings 127-100 in the CBA here on Wednesday.
Led by Young who shot 9 of 11 in the field in 23 minutes, Beijing prevailed with six players in double-digit figures. Yu Changdong contributed 19 points and 17 rebounds to the victory. Sean Hill of Nanjing posted 25 points.
"We didn't prepare well tonight, and it's my responsibility. Beijing deserved to win as they played with more energy and desire," rued Nanjing head coach Memi Becirovic.
Beijing staged the game at a fast pace with Young on fire, making consecutive jump shots to score 24 points in the first half. Nanjing rallied with a few answer balls to avoid a rout, trailing by 64-55 at half-time.
Beijing showcased their aggression through quick transitions in the third quarter with a 10-0 run to establish a 35-point lead into the last period, and despite Hill's best efforts, Nanjing were unable to turn the tide.
"In the second half, our players played with focus and great determination on the defensive end, and took the opportunities to win the game," said Beijing head coach Stephon Marbury.
