A staff member at a checkpoint for COVID-19 prevention and control died after being hit by a car on Sunday. The driver had refused to cooperate with a routine inspection in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province, according to the People's Procuratorate in the city on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the city's Pingshinan village, the procuratorate said. An investigation is underway.
Local procuratorate authorities vow to speed up the process once the case leaves the hands of the police and enters the court process, the statement said, as part of the fight against crimes involving control and prevention of the coronavirus.
