Call it fate, call it coincidence, but it's at the very least unusual.

Two freshmen from the Wuhan University of Science and Technology were born on the same day and received the same score in the college entrance exam.

If that weren't enough, Yin Xin and Xu Zhenye now study the same major, share a class and live in the same room.

The two talk frequently about their learning and life problems. They have also participated in a programming contest together, and expect to become post-graduates at the same university.

This isn't the first phenomenon of its kind, not even in Wuhan.

Two graduate students at the School of Literature, Law and Economics under the Wuhan University of Science and Technology share the name Li Huan, one male enrolled in 2018 and one female in 2019.

The two were both born on April 4, 1996. It was his first time to meet a person sharing his name, the male Li Huan said.

"When she came to take the final exam, I paid attention to her, and contacted her, suggesting she study with my supervisor He Zun," he said. The female student followed his suggestion and now they both study with He.

He joked when they hand over their writing pieces, they have to write down their gender after the name, just to make clear which is which.
