Leicester City lose to Fulham to miss chance to go top in Premier League

LONDON - Leicester City missed the chance to go level on points with Tottenham and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League when they were beaten 2-1 at home to Fulham on Monday night.

Fulham produced their best display of the season and Ademola Lookman opened the scoring after running clear of the Leicester defense after half an hour before beating Kaspar Schmeichel.

Fulham had missed their last three penalties, but Ivan Cavaleiro, who missed Fulham's last penalty, ended that run when he tucked the ball home after Christian Fuchs had fouled Bobby Decordova-Reid.

Jarod Bowen was the hero for West Ham United as they beat Aston Villa 2-1 at the London Stadium.

The former Hull City striker set up Angelo Ogbonna with a far post cross in the second minute and then netted the winner in the first minute of the second half after Jack Grealish had scored an impressive equalizer for the visitors with a 20 yard shot.

West Ham had a big let off 15 minutes from time when Ollie Watkins hit his penalty against the bar after Declan Rice had been penalized for a slight shirt pull.

Watkins thought he had atoned in the second minute of injury time but the goal was ruled out for a tight offside decision after three minutes of deliberation from the VAR.

The weekend matches saw Chelsea and Tottenham draw 0-0, while Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw in Brighton and Manchester United fought back from 2-0 down to beat Southampton 3-2.
