Rare CPC stamps go on display in Beijing
Some 50 series of precious stamps issued from 1930 to 1950 — including a few rare stamps and only copies — went on display for one day in Beijing on Thursday.
The stamps were issued by administrations under the leadership of the Communist Party of China during the period and bore witness to historical events including the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the War of Liberation (1946-49), said Sun Jiangtao, a renowned painter and stamp collector in China.
The stamps were from Sun's collection and that of Fu Jiaju, another renowned Chinese stamp collector.
Some stamps in the exhibition were worth millions of yuan, Sun said, adding that he had spent decades and a fortune collecting them and had bought the most precious examples in auctions.
