Global pharmaceutical company GSK has entered a string of partnerships with Chinese medical institutions, non-profit organizations and internet healthcare enterprises at the third China International Import Expo.

The partnerships include public education and specialist training programs with Cancer Foundation of China and a collaboration with internet company JD's healthcare arm in vaccination and chronic disease management.

"We are one of the beneficiaries of the CIIE. Our global products that were showcased at last year's CIIE have all been well-received since their launch in China," said Qi Xin, vice-president and general manager of pharma and vaccines at GSK China.

Qi said the COVID-19 pandemic has changed mindsets about vaccines in China, from something exclusive to children to a necessary safeguard for everyone.

She noted that digital platforms can help streamline the process from reservation to consultation and would allow "the market potential to be unleashed at a faster pace".

In terms of pharmaceuticals, the company has started a trial in Yinchuan, the capital city of Ningxia Hui autonomous region, leveraging big data to manage and monitor in real-time the whereabouts of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The company has also displayed four innovative health management and self-testing tools by GSK Consumer Healthcare, as well as a number of nutrition products, multivitamins and minerals that are available via cross-border e-commerce.
