First section of DRC infrastructure project completes
The first section of Kalemie Road Rehabilitation and Modernization Project, an infrastructure project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, completed and started operations on Oct 27, according to project planner and undertaker Sino-Congolese Infrastructure Co Ltd.
Sino-Congolese Infrastructure is a subsidiary of State-owned China Railway Resources Group Co Ltd.
The project, valued at over $50 million, included two sections, with the first being a four-lane road linking downtown Kalemie with Kalemie's airport. Kalemie is a city located in the southeast part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The completion of the road project's first section is expected to play an important role in promoting a better infrastructure system and boosting the local economy, according to China Railway Resources Group.
