Gansu's foreign trade over 27b yuan Jan-Sept

In September, Gansu's imports and exports grew by 36.3 percent year-on-year and 75.7 percent month-on-month.

In the first three quarters of this year, the total value of foreign trade in Gansu province stood at 27.18 billion yuan. The total value of imports and exports was 4.27 billion yuan in September, up 36.3 percent year-on-year and 75.7 percent month-on-month according to Lanzhou Customs on Monday.

Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the EU and ASEAN are the province's top four trading partners. In the first three quarters of this year, Gansu's imports and exports to Kazakhstan reached 5.3 billion yuan, up 28.5 percent year-on-year. The total value of imports and exports to Mongolia, EU and ASEAN was 2.69 billion yuan, 2.36 billion yuan and 2.19 billion yuan, respectively.

Imports and exports of State-owned enterprises continued to grow. In the first three quarters, the import and export business of SOEs in Gansu reached 17.12 billion yuan, up 10 percent and accounting for 61.5 percent of its total foreign trade, an increase of 7.3 percentage points over the same period last year.

Distinctive agricultural products continued to grow. In the first three quarters, Gansu's export of agricultural products reached 1.28 billion yuan, up 11.9 percent year-on-year, among which vegetable exports reached 190 million yuan and seed exports reached 160 million yuan, increasing 1.1 percent and 36 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Imports of mechanical and electrical products and nickel and cobalt maintained a high growth rate. In the first three quarters, Gansu's imported mechanical and electrical products reached 2.35 billion yuan, up 16.1 percent year-on-year.

Among this total, imports of electrical and electronic products reached 1.51 billion yuan, up 30.8 percent year-on-year, and imports of machinery and equipment reached 580 million yuan, up 0.7 percent year-on-year. Imports of nickel and cobalt in Gansu province reached 1.79 billion yuan during the same period, up 80.8 percent year-on-year.

Imports of consumer products increased rapidly. In the first three quarters, Gansu's imported consumer products reached 480 million yuan, up 72.4 percent year-on-year. The main consumer varieties include beef and mutton, aquatic products and fruits, with the import value increasing by 3 times, 70.1 times and 38.5 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, cross-border e-commerce continues to play a key role in the import of consumer products. In the first three quarters, Gansu's cross-border e-commerce imports grew 14.9 times year-on-year.
