COVID-19 relapses in new asymptomatic case
A man who recovered from COVID-19 has tested positive for the virus again following a medical check, the Shanghai Municipal Health commission announced on Thursday.
The man had previously tested positive after he arrived in the country via an international flight in April. He was hospitalized for treatment and later discharged after making a complete recovery.
On Aug 9, the man and his wife traveled from Northeast China's Jilin province to Shanghai to seek medical treatment for another ailment. He was later warded at Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated with Fudan University for treatment.
Following the mandatory nucleic acid test that all hospitalized patients have to undergo, the man was found to be an asymptomatic case and was transferred to the city's designated hospital for COVID-19 treatment.
The man's wife tested negative for the virus but has been placed under quarantine.
The 23 individuals who came into close contact with the man have also tested negative and are currently undergoing quarantine.
