BERLIN - Shakhtar Donetsk crushed hapless FC Basel 4-1 following a one-sided affair while Sevilla's Lucas Ocampos left it late to eliminate Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Donetsk needed no warmup time and broke the deadlock with just two minutes played as Marlos's corner kick allowed Junior Moraes to nod home the opener from inside the box.

Basel had the chance to respond moments later but Arthur Cabral headed just wide of the target from a promising position.

As the match progressed, Shakhtar controlled possession and pressed Basel on the back foot. Their efforts paid off with 22 minutes gone as Taison capitalized on a Marlos square pass to double the advantage with a deflected shot on target.

Luis Castro's men almost tripled the lead before the break but Raoul Petretta and the crossbar denied Junior Moraes from close range.

After the half time, Basel tried to take over but they failed to pose danger in front of Shakhtar Donetsk's target. Basel's best chance came with an hour into the game when Cabral's chip nearly caught goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov flat-footed.

Donetsk showed no mercy and put the result beyond doubt in the 75th minute after Alan Patrick converted a foul-play penalty from the spot to make it 3-0 on the scoreboards.

Things went from bad to worse with 88 minutes into the clash as Dodo made no mistake to slot home Tete's square ball.

Basel were able to score their consolation out of the blue as Ricky van Wolfswinkel poked home a loose ball into the open goal in the dying seconds of the game.

With the result, Donetsk face Inter Milan in the semifinal in Dusseldorf on Monday.

"We played fantastically against a very tough team. We were very well prepared and the semi-final was our aim," Shakhtar head coach Luis Castro said.

Elsewhere, Sevilla booked the last berth in the semifinal as Lucas Ocampos last-gasp winner flabbergasted the Wolves, who squandered a golden opportunity to take the lead in the first half from the penalty spot.

"I think we deserved to win. The key was to have patience and to wait until the right moment," Sevilla head coach Julen Lopetegui said.
