LA PAZ -- Bolivia international goalkeeper Carlos Lampe has thanked fans for their support after overcoming a bout of the novel coronavirus.

Lampe said his wife had also recovered from the illness and that the pair had been reunited with their two daughters after a period of self isolation.

"We've managed to beat the virus," Lampe said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. "We're now in perfect condition and back with our family. Thank you," added the 33-year-old, who joined Bolivian first division side Always Ready this year from Chile's Huachipato.

Lampe and his wife were diagnosed with the coronavirus on June 24 and both were forced to maintain a strict quarantine at their home in the eastern Bolivian city of Santa Cruz.

The former Boca Juniors player, who has been capped 33 times for Bolivia, is one of several Bolivian first division players to have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Others include Real Santa Cruz pair Alex Pontons and Diego Medinacelly and Guabira's Marcos Andia and Ricardo Suarez.

Bolivia has reported more than 40,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and over 1,470 deaths.
