Special train carries students to college exam
China Railway Kunming Group is providing a special train for 295 students living in remote mountainous areas in Guangtong town, Lufeng county, Yunnan province, to take this year's annual college entrance exam.
Because most of the candidates for the exam are from isolated areas with inconvenient transportation, the railway group decided in early June to offer round-trip train tickets to ensure they can take the exam in the county successfully.
"Since the school is some distance from the station, we drove there and gave the students group tickets," said Liang Ying, a staff of the group.
To improve the travel experience of candidates, the train station in the town has set up a green channel for ticket sales, entry and security check and has designated a special waiting area for candidates to provide a quiet environment so that candidates can make good use of the time to prepare for the exam.
"It is not only safe for us to use the special train to take the exam, but we can get there early, which gives us enough time to rest and stay in top shape for the exam," said student Mu Xiaoli.
Since 2016, the railway has had a long-term cooperative relationship with the school, arranging for students to take the exam in Lufeng county every year.
In 2018, after the faster bullet train was introduced, the students' travel convenience was enhanced even more as the 90-minute journey was reduced to only 16 minutes. The safe and comfortable travel experience was praised by teachers and students.
