ROME - Inter Milan enjoyed a comfortable home victory on Wednesday as the Nerazzurri crushed Brescia 6-0 at the San Siro.

Inter made several changes in the starting line-up as Romelu Lukaku was benched so Alexis Sanchez started up front with Lautaro Martinez, while Antonio Conte opted for Borja Valero rather than Christian Eriksen in the midfield.

The home side was up by three goals before the break thanks to goals from Ashley Young, Sanchez and Danilo D'Ambrosio.

Inter continued their show in the second half to add another three from Roberto Gagliardini, Eriksen and Antonio Candreva.

Inter maintain their third place in the table with 64 points, four behind second-placed Lazio, while Brescia sit bottom after the fiasco.

Elsewhere, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's return to action couldn't inspire AC Milan to victory, as the Rossoneri were held to a 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened SPAL.

Milan were 2-0 down after the half-hour mark as Mattia Valoti scored before Sergio Floccari volleyed in a spectacular goal from 30 meters out which dinked over a fully-stretched Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Hakan Calhanoglu found the net in the 36th minute but the goal was disallowed as Ante Rebic was caught offside in the build-up.

SPAL were one player down before half-time as Marco D'Alessandro saw red after a tackle on Theo Hernandez.

The away side pulled one back in the 79th minute, as Rafael Leao found the back of the net with a placed shot in the box.

Milan scored a last-minute equalizer with a stroke of luck as defender Francesco Vicari accidentally prodded Alexis Saelemaekers' pass into his own net.

In other games on Wednesday, Hellas Verona edged past Parma 3-2, Sampdoria rallied to beat Lecce 2-1, Fiorentina suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Sassuolo, and Bologna shared the spoils with Cagliari in a 1-1 draw.
