Chips manufactured by PepsiCo are safe and its cola production has not been impacted by confirmed COVID-19 cases, ThePaper reported on Sunday.

PepsiCo's chips are safe as the possibility of the novel coronavirus surviving the whole products supply chain is zero, the company said.

To guarantee food safety and consumers' rights, a series of measures have been taken after a COVID-19 case was confirmed on June 15.

The Beijing branch of PepsiCo Food (China) Co Ltd suspended operations after one employee was confirmed as a COVID-19 patient on June 15, said Fan Zhimin, an official with the publicity department of PepsiCo Greater China Region.

About 480 employees were sent to concentrated quarantine and they all tested negative for the virus, Fan said on Sunday, adding the environment has been disinfected and sterilized twice in the past week.

The business scope of the Beijing branch of the company is production of grain-processed products, potato and puffed foods, not related to any beverage products.

PepsiCo Food (China) Co Ltd is not related to Pepsi Cola Beverages Co Ltd, and all the soft drink products canned by the company are safe and not infected by COVID-19, according to the company's official Weibo and WeChat accounts.

Pepsi Cola Beverages Co Ltd and all bottling plants all over China are still operating as normal and all lines of Pepsi beverage products, which meet national standards, are supplied normally according to the law, the company said.
