Three officials from Beijing's Fengtai district were removed from their positions for breach of responsibility in the prevention and control of COVID-19.
The three are Zhou Yuqing, deputy head of Fengtai district; Wang Hua, Party chief of Huaxiang town in Fengtai; and Zhang Yuelin, general manager of the Xinfadi agricultural product wholesale market.
The move was announced at a news briefing on Monday after the market in the district reported a cluster of new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases recently.
The exact nature of their breach was not disclosed.
