China's battery makers see lower revenue

BEIJING - China's major battery manufacturers reported lower revenue and profits during the first four months of this year, official data showed.
Revenues of major battery companies shrank 13.5 percent year-on-year to 190.61 billion yuan ($27 billion) during the period, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Profits of major battery makers dropped by 19.5 percent to 5.21 billion yuan from a year earlier.
Among the industry's staple products, lithium-ion batteries logged an output of 4.15 billion units during the period, down 5.4 percent year-on-year.
