Activity honors 'Environmental Protection Stars' in Beijing
During the ongoing Beijing Ecology and Environment Week activity, a total of 10 individuals were honored in a contest as "Environmental Protection Stars", as announced in an online news conference on June 5. Awards for collectives that have done well in the field were also unveiled.
Audience members were able to watch interviews of the winners to learn about their contributions to environmental protection.
Launched by the local government, the contest attracted over 1,000 individuals and 500 collectives to sign up for it. After two months, the final winners were selected by expert views and more than 3 million online votes.
In the next few days, the winners and experts will visit Beijing's Cuihu Lake Wetlands Park, waste treatment facilities and new energy vehicle experience center to promote a green lifestyle to the public via livestream.
