SAO PAULO, Brazil - Brazilian volleyball legend Sergio Santos, 44, announced that he would end his playing career here last weekend.
Usually known as Serginho, the Brazilian has two Olympic gold medals from Athens 2004 and Rio 2016. In Rio 2016, Serginho was named Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The veteran libero is the only man who played in four consecutive Olympic finals. In Beijing 2008 and London 2012, he grabbed two silver medals.
"Now I think it's the right time and I can look back at my career and feel extremely happy about it. Every dig, every reception, every trip, every tournament, won or lost, they were all worth it," Serginho said.
Serginho said he will spend more time on his farm after retirement.
