Dalian, Ningxia announce dates for return to school

The coastal city of Dalian in Northeast China's Liaoning province, announced on Friday that students in the first and second grades at junior and senior high schools, as well as the fourth, fifth and sixth grades at primary schools will return to school on May 18.

Grades one, two, and three at primary schools will start on May 25.

Students at secondary vocational schools in Dalian will gradually return to campus since May 18. Arrangements for kindergartens and special education schools will be determined separately, depending on the situation of epidemic prevention and control, the notice said.

It requires "full coverage" of quarantine and nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 for all faculty and staff participating in related works, and point-to-point management from school to home for students. It also suggests educating students to strengthen personal protection.

The city's seniors at senior and junior high schools returned to campus on April 15 and April 20.

After taking online courses for more than two months, students across the country are returning to school for the new semester.

The education department and health commission of Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region issued a notification on May 7 saying students ingrade two at both junior and senior high schools will return to school on May 11, and students in grade one at high schools willreturn on May 18. Primary schools and kindergartens will resume according to the epidemic prevention and control situation.

Institutions of higher learning and secondary vocational schools shall, in accordance with the relevant requirements, pass the evaluation and return to school in a safe and orderly manner after Friday.
