Su Bingtian

Age: 30

Event: 100m

As the fastest Asian-born sprinter, Su has to put his dream of qualifying for an Olympic final heat on hold for another year after finishing his previous two Games both at the semifinal stage.

Leading the charge of China's athletics contingent for a breakout performance at the Tokyo Games, Su was expected to break his personal best of 9.91 sec, a mark he clocked twice in 2018 to tie with Nigeria-born Qatari sprinter Femi Ogunode's continent record, in Tokyo after improving his techniques, guided by American coach Randy Huntington.
