BEIJING - China will continue to promote work resumption of the courier sector in Hubei, once the hard-hit province of the novel coronavirus, according to the State Post Bureau (SPB).

The sector should arrange work resumption based on specific epidemic situations in different regions of the province, the SPB said.

By the end of March, the courier sector is expected to restore 50 percent of its normal operation capacity, the SPB said.

More efforts should be made to ensure clear "green channels" and health check-ups for those working in the sector to prevent potential cluster outbreaks, said Ma Junsheng, head of the SPB at a teleconference.

Domestic players like ZTO Express, STO Express and Yunda Express said they will provide enough protective gear, subsidies and preferential measures for employees to support work resumption of Hubei's courier industry.

Over 90 percent of the major industrial enterprises in China's provincial-level regions except for certain areas including Hubei, have resumed work and production thanks to region-specific restoration measures, the nation's top economic planner said Tuesday.
