China's daily production of masks exceeded 100 million units as of Saturday, effectively closing the gap between supply and demand amid the novel coronavirus outbreak, said the country's top economic regulator.

The daily production capability of masks nationwide and the daily output reached 110 million and 116 million, respectively, which were 5.2 times and 12 times the amount of that in Feb 1, said the National Development and Reform Commission.

The NDRC said the country is boosting efforts to help masks manufactures to resume work and expand the production capability to fight the outbreak.

According to NDRC, China is able to serve frontline medical worker's demand for urgently needed N95 medical masks, as 1.66 million N95 medical masks were produced per day in the country, and the daily production capability reached 1.96 million units.
