China is able to serve over 60,000 frontline medical workers' demand for urgently needed masks, with a daily supply of more than 300,000, an official from the country's top economic regulator said.

The daily production of N95 masks in China reached 919,000 on Saturday, 8.6 times the amount produced as of Feb 2, Cong Liang, secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission, told a news conference on Monday.

"With the surging demand for medical protective goods, we are shifting the focus to guarantee the supply of masks," Cong said.

As of Saturday, the daily production of masks hit 54.77 million, 2.8 times higher than Feb 2. And a total of 570 million masks were produced during the past 20 days, NDRC data showed.
