Beijing Royal Fighters edge Shenzhen, Beijing Ducks lose to Qingdao
BEIJING - Beijing had two teams playing in the 27th round of the Chinese Basketball Association on Wednesday, with the Royal Fighters winning and the Ducks losing.
As Yang Linyi failed to hit the last three-pointer, Shenzhen was defeated by Beijing Royal Fighters 102-100.
The Royal Fighters collected a 11-point lead before the last quarter. After Gu Quan scored five points in a row, Shenzhen narrowed the gap to five. With two three-pointers from Lu Yiwen, Shenzhen only lagged behind by one point before Yang missed his three-pointer.
Kyle Fogg scored a game-high 24 points for Beijing, Sun Yue pocketed 19 points and Wang Shaojie had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
For Shenzhen, Allerik Freeman grabbed a team-high 22 points, Gu Quan contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Yang Linyi added 13 points.
In the other match, the Beijing Ducks lost to Qingdao Eagles 115-92 on Wednesday.
"Our players carried out our strategy very well tonight. Especially in the fourth quarter, they had clear heads on defense and offense," said Wu Qinglong, head coach of Qingdao.
"We started badly and had nine faults just in the first quarter. Qingdao scored many points from counterattacks, as we didn't focus enough," said Yannis Christopoulos, head coach of Beijing Ducks.
