LAUSANNE - China suffered its second loss in the curling competitions of the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games, losing 7-6 to Germany on Monday.
"It's very disappointing as our qualification chance is very slim now," said team official Zhao Wendi, "Our players made mistakes in the last end and that cost us the victory."
"In the next match, we have to beat Denmark and at the same time Hungary beat Germany, then we still have the chance to qualify for the next phase of the competition," Zhao Wendi added.
Also on Monday, host Switzerland registered its fourth straight victory, beating Denmark 6-4, Canada won over Brazil 9-3 and Italy edged Japan 7-6.
Switzerland, Canada, Italy and Japan have all secured their berths in the quarterfinals.
