HANGZHOU -- East China's Zhejiang province plans to invest more in emerging industries to further drive innovation and high-quality development.

As home to masses of manufacturing companies and a technology and innovation hub, Zhejiang plans to attract another 4,000 high-tech enterprises and 10,000 micro, small and medium-sized science and technology companies in 2020, according to provincial Governor Yuan Jiajun in his government work report at the annual session of the provincial people's congress.

Zhejiang will further develop advanced industries such as integrated circuits, software, quantum information science, microchips, third-generation semiconductors, and next-generation artificial intelligence in the next five years. It plans to achieve a growth of 15 percent in added value of core industries in the digital economy in 2020.

As one of China's digital economy powerhouses, Zhejiang plans to build 10 landmark industry chains, launch 60 industrial collaborative innovation projects and build 18 provincial-level innovation centers in manufacturing this year, said Yuan.
