URUMQI - A new air route was launched Monday to link Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and Japan's Nagoya via Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province.

Another service, linking Urumqi with Nagoya via Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, will be launched on Tuesday.

The Urumqi-Wuhan-Nagoya service is run three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while the Urumqi-Jinan-Nagoya is operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

With the new services, Xinjiang will have flights to Nagoya every day, according to the operator Urumqi Air.

The opening of the new routes will provide convenient transportation for Chinese and Japanese tourists, and help promote exchanges and cooperation, according to Wu Hao with Urumqi Air.
