Bayi surge in fourth quarter, overcome Fujian in WCBA

BEIJING - Bayi took charge of the fourth quarter to outlast Fujian 92-82 at home in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) on Monday.
Li Meng registered a double-double of 23 points and 12 assists for Bayi. Sun Mengran and Pan Zhenqi added 21 and 16 respectively.
Bayi established a 28-18 lead after the first quarter, but were outscored by five and three points in the following two quarters by the visitors, who trailed at 68-70 heading into the final 10 minutes.
Fujian's Kelsey Renne Bone shot 19 of 24 from the field to post a match-best 44 points along with 17 boards.
However, as foreign players can only play three quarters against Bayi, Bone had to watch off the court in the last period. And without their efficient finisher in the post, Fujian gradually began to lose the ground.
With one more match played, Bayi climb to fourth at 8-2, while Fujian sit 13th.
Top two sides Shanxi and Dongguan will vie for staying unbeaten on Tuesday.
