Frozen II, a sequel to the 2013 Disney animated blockbuster Frozen, has been given an extended run at the Chinese mainland box office and will be screened until Jan. 20, said the company on its official Weibo account.

The animated musical fantasy film continues the story of Elsa, a queen with icy powers, and her warmhearted sister Anna. In the new film, Anna and Elsa travel to an ancient enchanted forest to find the origin of Elsa's powers in order to save their kingdom.

Hitting mainland theaters on Nov 22, the film has grossed about 746 million yuan ($106.93 million) in the world's second largest film market.

It has a current score of 7.3 out of 10 points on the Chinese film rating site Douban.
