Hong Kong-based Fung Group believes the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area serves as the basis for economic development that "provides ample space for the company to grow".

"Policies such as these greatly facilitate the lives of people who reside in the area, whether it's finding a job or starting one's own business," said Chang Ka Mun, managing director of Li & Fung Development (China), a subsidiary of Fung Group. The firm's business spans from trading and logistics to distribution and retail.

In a press conference on the sidelines of the second China International Import Expo in Shanghai, Chang said China's best response to lingering China-US trade frictions is to further reform and opening-up, and the expo itself is the epitome of that spirit.

"It's imperative China shows the world how our country emphasizes and upholds multilateralism under World Trade Organization rules," he said. "We need to make even bigger and more proactive strides in fostering the domestic market."

To this end, Fung Group is bringing a variety of products to economies related to the Belt and Road Initiative, and introducing special products to meet the growing needs of local consumers.

"Currently the economic environment in Hong Kong remains largely stable. Favorable policies rolled out by the central government are expected to help our business maintain momentum," he noted.
