My Dear Liar, the latest film spawned from a youth-support project launched by filmmaker Ning Hao, will open across China on Nov 8.

As the directorial debut feature of young director Shen Ao, the noir comedy reunites actor Dong Chengpeng, better known by his stage name Dapeng, and actress Liu Yan, both shot to fame from their hit online drama Diors Man.

Set in Chongqing, the tale follows a designated driver who is in poor financial condition and urgently needs to raise money for his six-year-old son to cure his asthma. Pushed by his notorious friend, the driver cheats a streaming site anchor to marry him but his real target is her life insurance money.

With Ning – one of China's most commercially successful directors – as the executive producer, the film is the latest theatrical work of Ning's "Bad Monkey 72 Transformation Project", which previously produced the runaway hit Dying to Survive.
