The pagoda has recently been recognized as one of the country's major cultural heritage sites under national-level protection. The brick building, built in 1576 of Ming Dynasty, is 65.8 meters high and has nine stories. The facade in the pagoda's middle part was decorated with relief sculptures, each at 1.45 meters long and 55 centimeters wide. The structure was the second highest pagoda in Ming Dynasty and today the highest attic-style pagoda in Guangdong.
