WUHAN - China's Lu Pinpin broke the world record of obstacle race in the military pentathlon competition on Sunday at the 7th Military World Games in Wuhan, China.

Lu finished the women's race in two minutes and 10.9 seconds, two seconds faster than the previous world mark, leading the event temporarily with 1203.7 points after two disciplines with shooting completed on Saturday. Lu's teammate Wang Tanglin was second clocking 2:19.1, followed by the DPR Korea's Kim Su-ryon, who's slightly 1.7 seconds behind Wang.

In the obstacle race, pentathloners have to clear 17 of the 20 obstacles set on the 500-meter running track. The military-specialized event also includes obstacle swimming, throwing and cross-country running, to be contested later.
