Fishing season opens in Kunming

This year's fishing season opened Wednesday on Dianchi Lake in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, has arrived for local fishermen, who are so excited because they are allowed to catch whitebait and shrimp from the lake until Nov 14.

On Wednesday morning, more than 100 fishing boats sailed out to go fishing. By 2 pm most came back with big smiles and storage bins filled with fresh fish and shrimp.

The fish and shrimp were quickly snatched up by local residents and dealers.
