Festive event spotlights Chinese culture, sports immersion

The Schuman Roundabout, site of the European Commission's headquarters, Berlaymont, was turned into a venue of Chinese cultural and sports immersion and celebration on Wednesday. There, a guzheng performance, woodblock printing experience and hanfu traditional clothing were part of a long list of activities and displays at China-EU Sports Day, part of the European Week of Sport. It was jointly hosted by the Chinese Mission to the EU and the European side.

Dominique Kowalski, a high school student, and his two classmates, were on their way home after school when they were drawn by the festive mood. 

Walking into a huge tent, they paused at the stand where a young woman dressed in traditional Chinese costume was playing the guzheng, also known as the Chinese zither.
